A royal biographer has raised doubts about the Duke of Sussex’s choice to make the United States his permanent home, suggesting that it might not be the ideal decision.
Andrew Lonai, the author of Traitor King, expressed that the royal family has always held a fondness for America.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Express US, Lonai highlighted the historical significance of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor’s exile in the US, where they found a sense of comfort and acceptance.
Lonai noted that Americans tend to be more supportive of the British royals and are less critical of their imperfections compared to the scrutiny faced in the UK.
Initially capturing public interest upon their arrival in the US in 2020, the narrative surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex seems to be losing momentum, as observed by Lonai.
He remarked that American audiences may now be seeing through the couple’s actions and decisions.
Lonai emphasized that the Duke of Sussex has officially updated his residency status to the United States, signaling his definitive detachment from the royal family.
This move, according to Lonai, was anticipated by many, considering the strained relationships within the British monarchy.
Lonai expressed confidence that the Duke of Sussex will find greater contentment in America, given the circumstances that led to his relocation.
With his ties to the UK significantly altered, Lonai believes that the Duke’s future prospects lie across the Atlantic.
The Duke is scheduled to return to the UK on May 8 for the Invictus Games’ 10-year anniversary ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.
The question remains whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children will accompany him for this visit.
Speculations have arisen regarding an invitation for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to spend the summer holidays at the King’s estate in Balmoral.
