Amid ongoing cancer treatments, both the Princess of Wales and the King have decided to step away from their public duties, shifting the spotlight onto other members of the royal family who are actively carrying out their responsibilities.
The initial announcement about prioritizing health concerns came from the Princess of Wales, who underwent stomach surgery in January, as revealed in a statement shared on Kensington Palace’s Instagram account.
It has been stated by the Palace that the Princess of Wales will be taking a break from her official engagements until after the Easter period.
Simultaneously, Buckingham Palace disclosed that the King was scheduled for prostate surgery on the same day.
Subsequently, both the Princess of Wales and the King personally confirmed their cancer diagnoses through separate statements.
While Buckingham Palace officially announced the King’s diagnosis in February, the Princess of Wales took to social media last Friday to share her own health update directly with her followers.
Currently, there are 11 active members of the royal family, with the King and the Princess of Wales holding significant roles as prominent figures representing the British monarchy.
Among them is William, officially recognized as the Prince of Wales, being the first-born son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip of Edinburgh.
Notably, a grand ceremony was held at St Paul’s Cathedral when Charles, then 32 years old, married Lady Diana Spencer, resulting in the birth of the Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales.
The separation of the King and Diana occurred in 1992, and tragically, Diana passed away in Paris five years later.
Following a period as the Duchess of Cornwall, the King married Queen Camilla in a civil ceremony in April 2005.
In September 2022, after the passing of his mother, he became the oldest individual to ascend the British throne, assuming the name Charles.
Throughout his life, the King has maintained a prominent presence within the royal family, actively participating in public events up until January.
