In a significant event honoring Queen Camilla and Prince Edward, the Prince of Wales made a special trip to Scotland without his wife, Princess Catherine.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were formally inducted into the prestigious Order of the Thistle during a ceremony that celebrates Scotland’s highest order of chivalry.
During this occasion, the Prince of Wales conveyed a heartfelt message to his younger brother, the Duke of Sussex, showing his unwavering support for the monarch.
Taking place at a private ceremony attended by the Prince of Wales, who is next in line to the throne, the Queen appointed Camilla and Edward as Royal Knights of the Order.
This official installation occurred at a solemn service held at Edinburgh’s St Giles Cathedral on Wednesday, July 3rd.
Notably, the Prince of Wales attended the ceremony solo as the Princess of Wales is currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Appointments to the Order of the Thistle are personally made by the King, separate from Downing Street, as he holds the position of Sovereign of the Order.
At 75 years old, the King has been actively involved in such ceremonies.
Established in 1996 in Edinburgh, Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres have expanded across Scotland, England, and Wales, with the Queen serving as the patron of all these locations.
Various Scottish charities, including Horseback UK, Scotland’s Garden Scheme, and Craffy Opportunity Holidays, benefit from the Queen’s patronage or presidency.
There seems to be tension surrounding the new accolades bestowed upon Camilla, as the Duke reportedly holds her responsible for causing discord in the King’s life due to her perceived interference.
Camilla has recently been honored as an honorary member of organizations like the Upper Deeside Art Society and the Ballader Women’s Institute.
Meanwhile, Prince Edward lends his support to philanthropic endeavors such as the Edinburgh International Festival and other Scottish charitable organizations.
The recent appointments to the Order also include notable figures like Sir Jeff Palmer, Scotland’s pioneering black professor, and Baroness Helena Kennedy, a distinguished lawyer.
