The Royal Ladies came together in a grand reunion at the State Banquet held at Buckingham Palace to extend a warm welcome to the President and First Lady of Korea.
Dressed in exquisite evening gowns and adorned with dazzling tiaras, they added an air of elegance to the occasion.
One remarkable presence among them was the K-pop girl band, Blackpink, who were seated in the ballroom for the four-course dinner.
Their attendance was acknowledged by the King himself during his speech.
Queen Camilla left fans in awe as she appeared in a stunning red Fiona Clear Eldridge gown.
To commemorate the event, she also wore the late Queen’s ruby and diamond Burmese tiara.
This magnificent tiara, valued at approximately £5 million, features rubies that were gifted to the late Queen on her wedding day in 1947.
The Princess of Wales, known for her impeccable sense of style, effortlessly captivated the world once again.
She looked absolutely breathtaking in a pristine white gown, complemented by striking jewelry.
A delightful surprise awaited everyone at the banquet when Princess Catherine was spotted wearing a tiara she had never worn before – the Strathmore Rose tiara, which once belonged to the late Queen Mother.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Edinburgh chose to recycle her coronation gown, the bespoke cream Susanna Crabbe dress.
This dress had previously been worn by the Duchess to the historic ceremony of King Charles and Queen Camilla in May.
Speaking exclusively to People, Crabbe revealed her intention to create something unique and iconic, yet subtle, ensuring that Sophie felt amazing and confident in the dress.
Known for her classic and feminine designs, Crabbe incorporated a few gentle British touches into the gown.
The floral embroidery, inspired by London-based ceramic artist Rachel Dane, commemorated the 140th anniversary of Cora’s diplomatic relations with the UK.
The State Banquet commenced with a speech by the King, which was interspersed with Korean phrases and references to K-pop culture.
The audience, including the members of Blackpink, the world’s biggest girl band, were delighted by this gesture.
Adhering to the white-tie dress code, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose arrived at Buckingham Palace in glamorous gowns.
A video shared on X showcased the sweet glances exchanged by these pop stars during the King’s speech.
It is worth noting that Blackpink made history in July by becoming the first Korean band to headline a major UK music festival at BST Hyde Park.
This achievement followed their groundbreaking performance at Coachella in the US, where they became the first Asian and all-female group to headline the festival.
The banquet also included special tributes to Sir Winston Churchill, a beloved figure for the President, who greatly admired the wartime politician.
The King and Queen presented the President with a copy of Sir Winston’s memoir, “The Tide Book,” which was hand-bound at Windsor Castle and featured a personalized dedication label.
The Queen gifted Mrs. Kim a pashmina embroidered with the mugunghwa, the national flower of South Korea, and the names of the First Lady’s dogs.
This exquisite piece of artistry was created by embroiderers from the Royal School of Needlework.
During his speech, the King’s mention of Gangnam Style elicited a chuckle from President Yoon, demonstrating the warm camaraderie between the two leaders.
Both the King and the President paid tribute to the 140 years of diplomatic relations and cultural ties between their nations.
President Yoon also acknowledged other South Korean exports, such as the popular Netflix series Squid Game.
In his address to the 170 guests present, Prince Charles tactfully referred to his one and only official visit to South Korea in November 1992.
This visit, marked by the visible unhappiness of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, earned them the nickname “the Glums.”
It is worth mentioning that the couple separated just a month later.
