Former England rugby star, Mike Tindall, found himself in hot water after divulging a playful yet revealing three-word nickname he coined for none other than Prince William during a candid podcast interview with his wife, Zara Tindall.
The couple joined forces on a special podcast session, shedding light on their personal dynamics and relationships with the royal family.
During the podcast, hosted by rugby league legend Rob Burrow, Tindall shared insights into the unique monikers they use for each other and even members of the royal family.
When prompted about any peculiar nicknames for the royals, including Prince William, Duchess Kate, King Charles, and Queen Camilla, Tindall humorously disclosed that Prince William is affectionately known as “Pint Willie.”
In a lighthearted moment, Tindall explained the origins of the moniker, stating, “I’m known as One Pint Willie because he doesn’t like to drink as much, given the social nature of his sport, opting for a few pints instead.”
The revelation sparked a mix of amusement and surprise, particularly from Zara Tindall, who jokingly expressed her dismay at the situation.
Amidst the banter, the couple also shared endearing tidbits about their own relationship, revealing that they fondly refer to each other as “munchkins.”
Tindall whimsically recounted, “We basically call each other munchkins a lot.
I don’t know how it started, but it’s stuck.
Whether Zara decides to reveal that I’m saved as ‘munchkin’ on her phone remains to be seen.”
The podcast, part of Rob’s Called 7 series where sports stars are interviewed alongside their partners, provided a glimpse into the Tindalls’ close ties with the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their three children.
Notably, the royal couple had previously made an appearance on Tindall’s podcast, ‘The Good, The Bad and Rugby,’ delving into topics ranging from rivalry to personal anecdotes.
Hailing from a banking family and attending Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, Tindall’s journey into professional rugby commenced at a young age, shaping his path towards success in the sporting realm.
His bond with Prince William, which deepened after officially joining the royal family in 2011 through marriage to Zara, underscores a longstanding friendship rooted in mutual respect and camaraderie.
Renowned royal commentator, Dickie Arbiter, emphasized the genuine connection between Prince William and Tindall, attributing it to their shared values and affable nature.
He remarked, “They are both good guys.
We’ve witnessed the authenticity of their relationship numerous times.
They embody a true sense of family without pretense.”
In a surprising turn of events, Prince Harry’s recent appearance at the NFL Awards garnered attention for his notable omission of any mention regarding his father’s health struggles.
