In a recent stand-up comedy show, British comedian Simon Brodkin launched a scathing attack on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The incident occurred just weeks after Brodkin had performed for Prince William and Princess Kate at the prestigious Royal Variety Performance.
Footage of the show was uploaded onto various platforms, including X.
Brodkin, who is well-known for his comedic alter ego Lee Nelson, used his live performance to criticize the couple’s choice of words.
He described a particular line as so cringeworthy that he found himself sympathizing with Prince Andrew instead.
Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, had stepped back from royal duties in 2019 due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
“I initially wanted to like them,” Brodkin admitted.
“They were addressing important issues like discrimination and misogyny.
But then they started referring to themselves as H&M, and I couldn’t help but feel exasperated.
Honestly, when Harry described a date with Meghan as the night they ‘pulled the pin on a fun grenade,’ I actually found myself rooting for Prince Andrew.
At least he respects the monarchy, unlike Meghan.”
A clip of Brodkin’s remarks quickly went viral on TikTok, garnering over 330,000 views and 16,000 likes.
The specific date Brodkin referenced was a Halloween party that took place the night before Harry and Meghan’s relationship became public knowledge.
The couple had shared this anecdote in their December 2022 Netflix series, “Harry and Meghan.”
During the show, Harry reminisced about the Halloween party, where they could dress up incognito.
“I had a bandana and goggles,” he revealed.
Meghan chimed in, saying, “You borrowed a great costume, and we thought, well, this might be our last chance to have fun in the world.”
Harry then added, “We pulled the pin on the fun grenade, which we did.”
Brodkin took aim at Harry’s claim that he had borrowed Tom Hardy’s costume from the film “Mad Max” for the party.
The comedian sarcastically remarked on Harry’s lack of knowledge about how actors obtain costumes, noting that they don’t get to keep them.
He also made a snide comment about Meghan’s past behavior, suggesting that her actions were questionable.
While Brodkin’s shock comedy routine may have amused some, it certainly didn’t sit well with Meghan’s staunch supporters.
Many of her fans took to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their outrage and condemn the comedian’s jokes.
In the meantime, royal enthusiasts have been sharing their thoughts on what appears to be a pivotal year for the Sussexes.
Some have pointed out the irony of Harry and Meghan’s fans expressing frustration over others profiting from their idols, considering the couple’s own lucrative endeavors using their royal connections.
As the year unfolds, it remains to be seen whether the Sussexes can navigate the challenges ahead and maintain their brand.
However, one thing is certain: Simon Brodkin’s comedy routine has reignited the conversation surrounding Harry and Meghan, prompting both criticism and support from various quarters.
