Prince William has thrown some subtle shade at his brother, Prince Harry, and it couldn’t be more satisfying.
We’ve all heard about Harry and Meghan preaching about reducing our carbon footprint while they themselves continue to pollute the environment with their gas-guzzling SUVs and private jets.
But it seems that William has also taken notice of this hypocrisy, as Kensington Palace recently released a statement that appears to be a swipe at Harry.
According to GB News, a spokesperson for William stated that the Prince of Wales would never tell people not to fly or travel by car due to climate change fears.
Unlike Harry, William understands that most of us are doing our best to reduce our carbon footprint, but as individuals, we don’t have much power to make significant changes.
Many people have no choice but to drive to work because of the distance, and making our homes more energy efficient is often a financial challenge.
It’s a relief to see that at least one of the princes isn’t a hypocrite, especially considering that William will one day be king.
The Kensington Palace spokesperson emphasized that the Earthshot Prize, initiated by William, focuses on finding innovative solutions to change the future direction of the planet.
However, it will never tell people not to travel or use planes and cars.
The frustration among ordinary people is growing as they are constantly bombarded with messages about changing their habits to save the planet while corporations and wealthy individuals continue to exploit its resources for their own gain.
William’s approach to the climate crisis is refreshing.
Instead of just talking, he is taking action through initiatives like the Earthshot Prize, which aims to find practical solutions to combat climate change.
On the other hand, Harry’s actions contradict his words.
In 2019, he claimed to spend 99% of his life traveling commercially, but it is evident that he and Meghan prefer private jets for their frequent trips.
Harry’s excuse for flying privately based on unique circumstances to ensure his family’s safety is questionable.
Private jets emit significantly more pollutants than commercial planes, and their use has increased during the pandemic.
Reports suggest that Harry and Meghan burned nearly 10 tons of carbon during a vacation in the Caribbean, equivalent to eating 1,380 meat-based meals or flying back and forth from Paris to New York five times on a commercial flight.
It raises the question of how Harry plans to offset such emissions.
His claims of balancing out the impact are empty without concrete actions.
The couple’s reliance on private jets extends beyond vacations.
They consistently choose this mode of transportation, even for events related to climate change.
Their recent trip to New York for a conference on mental health was no exception.
It seems unlikely that they have flown commercially in the past few years, as there is no evidence to suggest otherwise.
Ironically, at the same conference, Zach Williams, son of the late actor Robin Williams, highlighted the negative impact of climate change on mental health, particularly among young people.
While Harry and Meghan advocate for the mental well-being of youngsters, they fail to acknowledge the urgency of addressing climate change, which poses an equally significant threat.
Harry himself acknowledged the challenges posed by climate change during a visit to the University of the South Pacific in 2018.
Yet, he fails to recognize his own responsibility to contribute to the solution.
This inconsistency reveals their hypocrisy and undermines their credibility.
In contrast, William’s approach resonates with many.
He understands that tackling climate change requires collective effort and doesn’t expect individuals to bear the burden alone.
His Earthshot Prize demonstrates his commitment to finding real solutions rather than just preaching about them.
The difference between William and Harry is clear.
While William leads by example and actively works towards a greener future, Harry and Meghan continue to live a lifestyle that contradicts their own words.
It’s no wonder people find their hypocrisy distasteful.
