There are growing concerns that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be losing their standing in the Royal Family, according to a respected royal biographer.
Recent developments have seen the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to the bottom of the official Royal website, now ranking just above Prince Andrew.
Royal biographer Phil Dampier, speaking to The Sun, stated that they are currently placed alongside disgraced Prince Andrew and it seems unlikely that they will be able to improve their position.
In addition, speculation has arisen about King Charles adopting a cautious approach when it comes to assigning titles to Archie and Lilibet, depending on the content of the Sussexes’ upcoming Netflix show.
A royal commentator has suggested that Meghan Markle either remains oblivious to the damage she has caused the Royal Family or simply doesn’t care.
Jonathan Sasserdoti, who has appeared on various media outlets including BBC, Sky News, and Fox News, believes that King Charles III is likely to wait until the release of the Netflix series and Harry’s anticipated memoir before making any decisions regarding titles for their children and grandchildren.
Mr. Sasserdoti shared his thoughts following Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September, where the royals were temporarily reunited at Westminster Abbey.
However, Meghan and Harry quickly returned to their California residence, highlighting the physical and metaphorical gap that now exists between them and Harry’s father, the UK’s new monarch.
This separation stems from their decision to step down as full-time members of the royal family in 2020, partly due to their dissatisfaction with the press intrusion.
Meghan revealed during her interview with Oprah Winfrey that she had even contemplated suicide due to the immense pressure she faced.
She also claimed that some senior royals dismissed her concerns about her mental well-being and that an unnamed member of the family had made comments about the potential skin tone of their unborn child, Archie.
According to Mr. Sasserdoti, it was evident from the beginning that Meghan, who married Harry in 2018, was not comfortable with the role she was expected to fulfill within the royal family.
He highlighted her previous experience with fame and dealing with the media, which stemmed from a background in acting and modeling rather than royalty.
While other non-royal spouses have joined the family at a young age or came from PR backgrounds, Meghan’s experience of gaining notoriety and celebrity through different means may not align well with the expectations placed on the royal family.
Mr. Sasserdoti also acknowledged that some may argue that Meghan is intentionally causing damage to the royal family and no longer cares about the consequences.
