In a surprising turn of events, tensions have reportedly arisen between Meghan Markle and Catherine, the Princess of Wales.
The conflict is said to have originated from a situation where a designer, whose clothes were worn by both women, prioritized Catherine over Meghan.
Both Kate and Meghan are known to be fans of British designer Erdem Morelioglu, with Markle having developed a fondness for his creations during her career as an actress.
Before joining the royal family in 2016, Meghan had been seen sporting Erdem’s designs to various engagements.
However, once she became a member of the firm, it is alleged that Catherine was given precedence, as she had already been an existing customer of the designer.
Erdem, a 46-year-old designer, is known for his distinctive style, which tends to evoke strong reactions from people.
His bold color choices and fearless use of patterns have made him a polarizing figure in the fashion world.
Some describe his romantic clothing as chintzy due to his preference for floral fabrics.
Over the years, Kate has been spotted wearing Erdem’s creations on multiple royal engagements.
In 2018, she wore a mid-calf fit and flare frock from Erdem’s SS18 collection to attend the opening of the V&A Photography Centre at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
She also chose the designer’s mustard floral print gown for a dinner hosted by the British Ambassador in Stockholm that same year.
In 2019, Kate opted for Erdem again, this time donning the Sheba floral cotton silk gown to attend the Chelsea Flower Show.
Meghan, on the other hand, had been seen wearing Erdem’s Divina dress from his 2015 collection in early 2016, even before it was available to the general public.
She was also spotted in Erdem dresses during a wedding in Jamaica and around the time of the 2017 Invictus Games.
However, Meghan didn’t publicly wear the designer until March 2019, after becoming a royal.
The fact that Erdem’s dresses were being handed to Kate before Meghan is said to have caused dissatisfaction among the Sussexes.
It is even rumored that Meghan made a comment suggesting that Kate was not even fit to be the Queen.
One possible reason for Erdem’s prioritization of Catherine’s orders over Meghan’s is believed to be Meghan’s failure to return an Erdem dress that she had been loaned for the 2017 Invictus Games.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Meghan has been accused of such behavior.
There have been previous instances where she conveniently forgot to return items or took them without permission.
For example, during a photoshoot for Reitman’s, Meghan accidentally walked off with Aquazura shoes instead of returning the ones she was supposed to.
It is also mentioned that Meghan complained about the clothes she had to wear for the shoot, claiming they were cheap.
However, her attitude quickly changed when sales at Reitman’s stores increased by 20% and her face became synonymous with the brand.
People who worked with Meghan on the Reitman’s shoot were vocal about her alleged anti-feminist stance.
They were perplexed by her diva-like demands and lack of collaboration, as she seemed to desire a Hollywood budget for the project.
Some of this information may have come directly from Meghan’s former agent, Laurie Sale.
At the time, Meghan’s behavior was so problematic that she even stole a pair of shoes and did not bid farewell to the crew.
Furthermore, it is claimed that Meghan lost jewelry that had been loaned to her by Her Majesty the Queen.
