New images have emerged that seem to contradict Meghan Markle’s previous claim that the royal family is not affectionate.
In the December 2022 docuseries featuring Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess stated that hugs were not well-received by Brits, particularly during her first encounter with Prince William and Princess Kate.
However, recent festive pictures of the royal family at Sandringham tell a different story.
One photo shows former England rugby player Mike Tindall embracing Prince George, which went viral on Twitter, prompting Meghan’s comments to resurface.
The image captured Tindall, who is married to Zara, Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter via Princess Anne, walking alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children on their way to St Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham.
The post on Twitter received over 3,000 likes and more than 118,000 views, leading to Meghan’s previous statement gaining attention once again.
The tweet included a quote from the Duchess of Sussex, where she expressed her surprise at the British aversion to hugging, stating, “Like, I was a hugger, I’ve always been a hugger.
I didn’t realize that that’s really jarring for the Brits.”
Meghan’s complete comment, taken from the Netflix series discussing her first meeting with the Prince and Princess of Wales, revealed her initial misunderstanding of British formality.
She recounted, “When Will and Kate came over and I was meeting her for the first time, I remember I was in ripped jeans, I was barefoot.
Like, I was a hugger, I’ve always been a hugger.
I didn’t realize that that’s really jarring for a lot of Brits.
I started to understand that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside.”
Critics argue that Meghan has been influencing Harry’s perception since the beginning, or even that she herself authored these claims.
However, not wanting to embrace strangers does not imply a desire for curtsies.
Observing Prince William’s behavior with Chelsea Davy, it is clear that he did not expect such formalities.
During a documentary about King Charles III’s coronation, the Bishop of Hereford, Richard Jackson, conveyed a different impression of the royals.
He described them as an affectionate and close-knit family, emphasizing that they made others feel part of both a family and national occasion.
The documentary featured images of the King greeting William and Kate with a hand on their arms and kisses on both cheeks.
In one scene, Kate even curtsied to the King.
These moments contrasted with Meghan’s claim that the royal family lacked warmth.
The Bishop’s comments seemed to challenge Meghan’s assertion, suggesting that her lack of familiarity with the British culture may have influenced her perception.
It appears that Meghan’s claim of being unwanted and unembraceable by the royal family may not hold true after all.
The recent images of the royal family’s church visit and the Bishop’s remarks indicate a sense of affection and closeness within the family.
While Harry and Meghan continue to make shocking revelations and public appearances, their understanding of a “real life” seems to be lacking.
The sight of the church photos may stir up memories for Harry of his own childhood walks with his cousins, highlighting the generational joy that comes with established traditions.
After years of strained relationships, it seems that Prince William and Princess Kate have moved on from the claims and allegations made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
There is no sign of reconciliation between the two couples.
A close friend of Kate’s revealed that she is focused on what lies ahead and is not dwelling on the past.
The tensions between the two families remain unresolved, and it seems that they will continue to navigate their separate paths.
