Princess Catherine, also known as the Duchess of Cambridge, is often seen wearing heels at formal events, such as Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
But how does she manage to stay comfortable in her vertiginous shoes all day long?
It turns out Catherine has two style secrets that help her endure extended periods in heels.
According to royal etiquette expert Micah Meyer, Catherine relies on a couple of tricks to ensure both comfort and appropriate attire during her numerous royal engagements.
Meyer reveals that the Duchess has been spotted using two specific products to achieve this feat.
One of Catherine’s go-to solutions is non-slip tights with built-in cushions.
To prevent her feet from slipping out of her heels, she wears non-slip tights from John Lewis, a renowned UK department store.
These sheer stockings, priced at £6 (approximately US$8.40), feature gel strips on the bottom that provide a firmer grip between her feet and the soles of her shoes.
In fact, royal fans noticed Catherine wearing similar tights with gel cushions during her 2011 royal tour of Canada.
The gel-like strips were visible over the side of her Tabitha Simmonds heels while she visited St Justine University Hospital in Montreal.
In addition to non-slip tights, Catherine also relies on leather insoles for extra comfort.
The Duchess has been known to wear Alice Bow insoles, created by British designer Rachel Bowditch.
These slip-in leather soles, priced at $22.95 in the US, are specifically designed to cushion the feet, allowing for comfortable wear of any type of shoe, including high heels, for hours on end.
Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl reported in 2015 that Catherine had ordered a couple of packets of these insoles and found them to be excellent.
However, Alice Bow declined to comment on the Duchess wearing their insoles at the time.
It seems that Catherine’s choice of non-slip tights and leather insoles has garnered attention and interest.
Although representatives for John Lewis did not respond to requests for comment, Alice Bow reported a significant increase in site visits following the news of Catherine using their insoles.
So, if you’ve ever wondered how Princess Catherine manages to stay comfortable in her high heels all day long, it seems her secret lies in a combination of non-slip tights and leather insoles.
These stylist tricks help her maintain both elegance and comfort during her many royal engagements.
