The Queen’s eight grandchildren are set to participate in a vigil, as they keep watch over her coffin in Westminster Hall.
This solemn event will be attended by King Charles’ children, Princes William and Harry, along with Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, and Lady Louise and Viscount Severn, whose father is Prince Edward.
Notably, Viscount Severn, at just 14 years old, will also be present.
In a recent development, the Prince of Wales and Harry have been granted permission to wear military uniforms during the vigil.
Initially, it was decided that King Charles’ younger son would not be allowed to wear military attire, but an intervention led to a change in this decision.
On Saturday, Prince William, Prince Harry, and Queen Elizabeth II’s other grandchildren paid their respects during the lying-in state, as the Royal Family prepares to bid farewell to the late monarch at her state funeral.
During the vigil, the brothers stood watch for 15 minutes over the Queen’s coffin in Westminster Hall, where it has been on display to the public since Wednesday.
They were joined by Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, the children of Princess Anne, as well as Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew.
Lady Louise and Viscount Severn, the children of Prince Edward, were also present.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex were there to support their children, as Louise and James are comparatively younger than their cousins, according to a royal source cited by CNN.
Prince Harry wore military attire at the request of King Charles III, as previously reported by CNN.
Although he is no longer a working member of the Royal Family, Harry has made appearances at various events in a mourning suit.
This vigil by the grandchildren follows a similar appearance by Charles and his siblings on Friday, and it takes place just two days before the Queen’s state funeral, scheduled for Monday.
The monarch passed away on September 8 after a remarkable 70-year reign, triggering a period of mourning and numerous commemorations throughout the country.
Despite their ongoing tensions, William and Harry have put their differences aside to make joint appearances at certain events.
Last weekend, they surprised many by embarking on a walkabout in Windsor with their wives, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
William personally invited the Sussexes to witness the memorials left for the Queen and to greet well-wishers, according to a source close to the family.
On Saturday, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie released a joint statement expressing their gratitude and sorrow at the passing of their dear granny and beloved Queen.
“We, like many, thought you’d be here forever.
And we all miss you terribly,” said the daughters of Prince Andrew in a statement issued by Buckingham Palace.
They further expressed their admiration for the Queen as their matriarch and guide, recognizing the valuable lessons and memories she imparted.
The sisters concluded the statement by bidding their grandmother farewell, remarking on the world’s mourning and the heartfelt tributes that would bring a smile to her face.
