Prince William Returns to Former Airbase in North Wales in New Royal Family Role
Prince William, now serving as Air Commodore, emotionally revisited his former airbase in North Wales today.
His appointment to this esteemed position was made by his father, King Charles, back in August 2023.
The royal visit took place at the RAF base in Anglesey, where William engaged in a comprehensive tour and held discussions with officials.
The connection between the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Isle of Anglesey dates back to the early years of their marriage when they resided there together.
Notably, Prince William undertook the role of an RAF search and rescue pilot at RAF Valley from 2010 to 2013, adding a personal touch to his visit.
RAF Valley stands as the sole Royal Air Force station in Wales and accommodates No 4 Flying Training School for FTS.
During his visit, Prince William made his way to the air traffic control tower to inspect the newly installed surveillance equipment.
He was briefed on the ongoing £44 million project aimed at refurbishing RAF Valley’s second runway, ensuring the smooth continuation of operations at the base.
Additionally, the Prince explored the fire and rescue section, interacting with staff members and even taking a seat in the fire truck equipped with a water pump.
