A recent incident unfolded at Windsor Castle when a trespasser was apprehended for unlawfully entering the royal grounds while King Charles and Queen Camilla were present.
The individual, a 39-year-old man, was taken into custody by the authorities on Tuesday for breaching security protocols at the historical site.
The intrusion occurred late in the evening, around 10 pm, prompting swift action from law enforcement officers who promptly intervened.
Subsequently, the suspect was detained under the Mental Health Act following his arrest.
Although reports suggest that King Charles and Queen Camilla were residing within the castle premises during the incident, official confirmation from Buckingham Palace aides is yet to be released.
Despite the alleged proximity of the monarchs, the situation was swiftly brought under control, ensuring their safety and security.
Following the trespassing incident, Prince Charles continued with his scheduled royal engagements the following morning at Windsor Castle, while King Charles conducted official business with Rishi Sunak at Buckingham Palace on the same day.
According to a spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police, the apprehension of the suspect occurred after authorities received reports of unauthorized access to Windsor Castle grounds.
The individual in question was intercepted at approximately 10 pm on February 20, leading to his subsequent detainment under mental health provisions.
Sources close to the investigation indicated that the intruder, although found within the King’s private garden, did not pose a direct threat as he was unarmed and acting alone.
Further investigations confirmed that no accomplices were involved in the breach.
This incident marks another notable breach of security at Windsor Castle, with previous instances highlighting vulnerabilities within the castle’s perimeter.
Notably, Josswad Singh Cheel made headlines in 2021 after being arrested on Christmas Day for a similar breach near Queen Elizabeth II’s private residence.
Cheel, then 21 years old, had meticulously planned the intrusion, including coordinating with a fictitious partner and exchanging covert communications before gaining unauthorized access to the castle grounds.
Following his apprehension, Cheel was subjected to legal proceedings and subsequently placed under a combined order, indicating a transfer to a correctional facility upon improvement of his mental health condition.
