In a heartwarming gesture, renowned American filmmaker Tyler Perry arranged for a grand choir to attend the christening of Lilibet, the daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The ceremony took place at the couple’s residence in California on March 8, 2023.
Perry, 53, was accompanied by the Duchess Mother, Doria Ragland, and an unidentified godmother.
The Sussexes’ spokesperson confirmed that the Archbishop of Los Angeles, Reverend John Taylor, conducted the christening on Friday, March 3rd.
To add a touch of musical splendor to the occasion, Perry also brought along a talented gospel choir of 10 individuals from Atlanta.
According to a source, the group mesmerized the attendees with soulful renditions of “Oh Happy Day” and “This Little Light of Mine.”
It is worth noting that a gospel choir had previously graced Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018, delivering a soul-stirring rendition of “Stand By Me.”
However, Karen Gibson, the leader of the choir, revealed that their involvement in Lilibet’s baptism was relatively limited.
They did not witness the presence of the infant herself, but instead observed Meghan anxiously pacing back and forth, expressing her frustration to the staff when they arrived late.
This surprising behavior raised doubts among the choir members, leading them to question the authenticity of Lilibet’s existence.
They even wondered how a silicone doll could be christened.
Curiously, none of the living members of the royal family have had the opportunity to meet Lilibet or her older brother Archie in person.
Some sources suggest that Lily’s real name might be Hartford Schroeder, indicating that something unusual occurred during her birth.
It is speculated that either the surrogate who carried the child decided to keep her, or a more sinister event took place involving the Montecito doctor who abruptly ceased her medical practice.
Adding to the mystery, the Sussexes spent only two hours at the christening, taking some photographs before departing to sign a deal with Sony Music UK.
Tyler Perry was appointed as Lilibet’s godfather shortly after her birth in June 2021.
Last week, he was spotted flying into California to visit the Sussexes at their lavish Montecito mansion.
During the couple’s Netflix docuseries released in December, Perry expressed his honor at being chosen as the godfather.
However, he also mentioned his preference for a private ceremony rather than a traditional church affair.
In unrelated news, Tyler Perry recently made headlines with reports stating that he would not be acquiring BET (Black Entertainment Television).
Paramount, the company involved in the sale, informed potential bidders, including Perry, of their decision not to proceed.
Perry, known for his significant contributions to the entertainment industry, has been associated with successful shows like “Sistas” and “The Oval” on the BET network.
Additionally, he holds a minority stake in the BET Plus streaming service.
The BET network has played a vital role in promoting black representation and storytelling for several decades.
Its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the entertainment landscape is widely recognized.
Although the decision to halt the sale may be disappointing for those involved, it reflects the complex considerations surrounding the network’s future.
Meanwhile, Tyler Perry Studios, renowned for producing numerous films and television shows, remains headquartered in metro Atlanta, solidifying Perry’s influence in the industry.
