The future holds some unique royal titles for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, the three children of Prince William and Princess Kate.
As per tradition, these titles will be bestowed upon them when their father ascends to the throne.
Let’s dive into the details of what lies ahead for the young royals.
Currently, Prince George, at the age of ten, stands second in line to the throne after his father.
When he eventually ties the knot, it is anticipated that he will be granted the title of duke.
However, the specific dukedom he will receive remains unknown.
Following in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth, who bestowed the titles of Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex upon her grandsons Prince William and Prince Harry respectively, it is likely that King Charles will continue this custom.
Consequently, Prince George will inherit the dukedoms of Cornwall and Rothesay, currently held by his father.
Nevertheless, the crown will regain control of the title, making it available for someone else.
Furthermore, Prince George will also succeed his father as the Prince of Wales.
Just one day after ascending to the throne, King Charles officially declared William and Kate as the Prince and Princess of Wales.
This transfer of titles is expected to occur when Prince William succeeds King Charles as the monarch.
Princess Charlotte, who is currently eight years old, may one day take on the role of the Princess Royal, a position currently held by Princess Anne, the sister of King Charles.
The eldest daughter of the monarch traditionally assumes the title of Princess Royal.
However, since King Charles does not have any daughters, Princess Charlotte would be the likely candidate.
It is important to note that this title cannot be inherited and is contingent upon two conditions: Prince William becoming king and Princess Anne’s passing.
When Princess Kate gave birth to her younger brother, Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte’s eligibility for the title of Princess Royal would have been compromised if it hadn’t been in place.
While the title of Princess Royal is rare and has only been held by seven women since its inception, it is considered less prestigious than a royal dukedom.
Notably, Charlotte, Princess Royal, held the title from 1789 to 1828 and was the daughter of King George III, making her namesake the daughter of Kate and William not the first to bear this honor.
As for Prince Louis, who is currently five years old, he may one day inherit a title currently held by another member of the royal family.
The traditional title for the second oldest son of the monarch is the Duke of York, which is presently held by Prince Andrew.
Although it is likely that Louis will succeed his great-uncle as the Duke of York, he cannot share the throne with him.
Since Prince Andrew was alive when King Charles assumed the throne, Prince Harry, King Charles’ second son, was not granted the title.
If Prince George fulfills the prophecy and becomes king, he will exchange his royal highness for his majesty.
In September, following the passing of their great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth and the ascension of their grandfather King Charles to the throne, the titles of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis underwent a change.
Previously known as Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis of Cambridge, they are now titled Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales, and Prince Louis of Wales.
The future is full of possibilities for the young royal trio.
As we eagerly anticipate their journey, we can only imagine the significance and impact their titles will hold in the years to come.
