Upon announcing their departure from official royal duties to embark on a new chapter in the United States, the couple had to come to terms with the establishment on how to navigate their altered status.
While they were permitted to retain their Sussex titles, they were informed that they could no longer use the HRH honorific, nor could they continue operating under the name Sussex Royal.
Consequently, Prince Harry and Meghan established the Archule Foundation, although the layout of their new website Sussex.com drew criticism for prominently featuring their titles.
During their recent encounter with the new chief executive of the Invictus Games, Scott Moore, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were particular about how they were addressed.
Moore was instructed to refer to them as “Sir” and “Mom” when they first met, as disclosed in Richard Eden’s column in the Daily Mail.
This choice of formality contrasts sharply with an incident from 2020 when Prince Harry, at a tourism conference in Edinburgh, requested to be addressed simply as “Harry” by the attendees.
Currently, the Sussexes are spending a three-day sojourn at the Whistler Resort near Vancouver in Canada, commemorating one year until the 2025 Invictus Games.
Canada holds a special place in the hearts of Harry and Meghan, having briefly resided there in 2020 post their royal exit and prior to relocating to California.
Notably, Meghan Markle had been based in Toronto for a significant period while filming Suits, the legal drama that propelled her into the spotlight before her union with Prince Harry.
While at the winter retreat, Prince Harry engaged in various sports activities available, such as snowboarding, with Meghan observing and capturing moments through photographs.
The upcoming edition of the Invictus Games will introduce winter sports for the first time, coinciding with a significant milestone for Prince Harry’s vision, marking a decade since the inaugural tournament in 2024.
A commemorative ceremony is slated to take place at St Paul’s Cathedral later this spring to honor this pivotal occasion, yet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not yet confirmed their attendance.
