Zara Tindall, the daughter of Princess Anne, recently expressed her appreciation for not being bestowed with a royal title.

In a candid conversation on the Total Sport podcast with former rugby player Rob Burrow, Zara shared her thoughts on growing up without the constraints of royalty.

Despite living on Princess Anne’s estate at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire, Zara revealed that she was grateful for the freedom to live her own life as a non-working royal.

Zara, who is married to Mike Tindall and has three children, Mia, Lena, and Lucas, explained that she and her older brother, Peter Phillips, were fortunate to have the opportunity to do things their own way.

She credited her family’s strong work ethic for shaping her values and expressed her hope to pass it on to her own children.

Zara also mentioned that her brother and cousins enjoy returning to their royal duties, and she wants her children to have similar experiences as they grow up.

Princess Anne, known as the Princess Royal, gave birth to Peter Phillips in November 1977 and Zara Tindall in May 1981.

Unlike Prince Andrew, who granted his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie royal titles, Princess Anne and her then-husband Captain Mark Phillips decided against bestowing HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) on their children.

Similarly, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie of Edinburgh made the same decision for their children Lady Louise and James, Earl of Wessex, although they are entitled to use HRH.

However, in a 2020 interview, the Duchess acknowledged that as adults, Louise and James could choose to reclaim their royal titles if they wished.

During the podcast, Zara and Mike also revealed an endearing nickname they have for each other: Munchkin.

It has become a term of affection between them, although they couldn’t recall how it originated.

Mike playfully teased that Zara could decide whether or not to disclose the nickname he uses for her in his phone, to which she responded that he is saved as something ending with “kitten.”

In a lighthearted moment, Mike shared another nickname he has for Prince William—One Pint Willie.

This nickname stems from Mike’s observation that the Prince is not the best drinker, as his own sport often involves socializing and enjoying a few beers.

Mike jokingly revealed this nickname as a playful gesture towards the future King of England.

Zara’s candid remarks shed light on her appreciation for the freedom she and her brother had growing up without royal titles.

It emphasized the importance of individuality and personal experiences, while also highlighting the strong work ethic instilled in her by her family.

As Zara and Mike continue to navigate their lives outside the realm of royalty, they hope to pass on these values to their own children, ensuring they have a similar sense of independence and fulfillment.
