Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, received a mixed reception from the crowd as he arrived for the start of the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Anti-war protesters booed the prince, while his fans cheered him on.

The event took place at the town hall, where Harry was joined by the city’s mayor, Stephen Keller.

Despite the protests, over 500 people gathered behind barriers in the scorching sunshine, hoping for a chance to meet the prince.

Dressed in a lightweight blue suit, white shirt, and silver tie, Harry walked towards the town hall, as the crowd shouted his name in anticipation.

Inside the building, representatives from the 21 nations competing in the Invictus Games eagerly awaited his arrival.

A small group of demonstrators voiced anti-military slogans, but their voices were soon drowned out by the cheers of Harry’s supporters when his car pulled into the market square in front of the town hall.

Accompanied by his bodyguard, ex-Secret Service agent Chris Sanchez, Harry made his way from the car to the town hall, ensuring his safety.

In one corner of the market square, about six individuals protested against the German military’s involvement in the Games for Disabled and Wounded Military Veterans.

They claimed that the event would be used to recruit new soldiers.

One of the demonstrators held up a banner with the words “Bomber Harry,” referring to Harry’s time as an Apache helicopter gunner in Afghanistan.

On Saturday, Prince Harry officially inaugurated the 2023 Invictus Games in Dusseldorf with a speech.

This is not the first time Harry has faced boos at a veterans’ event.

In June, he reportedly received a negative response when he attended the US Army Recovery Care Program’s Warrior Games in San Diego, California.

Later, Harry appeared on ZDF’s sports studio on German television, where he engaged in a shooting challenge.

The show’s host, Katrin Müller-Horenstein, introduced him and discussed his military experiences in Afghanistan and the purpose of the Invictus Games.

Germany’s defense minister Boris Pistorius and veterans Angelo Anderson and Jens Nehmer, who served in the Afghan war, also joined the conversation.

Before taking his shots, Prince Harry made a bet with co-host Sven Voss.

“What happens if I don’t score?”

Harry asked.

Voss replied, “Then you have to wear a Germany jersey.”

The challenge involved scoring three goals in the lower hole and three in the upper hole of a target.

Despite firing six shots, Harry failed to score a single goal.

Fortunately, the studio was unprepared for such an outcome and didn’t have a German jersey on hand.

Instead, a guest lent him a Mainz V fan scarf.

In contrast to Prince Harry’s performance, SPD politician Boris Pistorius successfully scored his first two shots, leading Harry to jokingly suggest that he should become Germany’s new soccer coach.

Pistorius laughed it off, mentioning that he already had enough concerns.

While Prince Harry’s shooting skills may have been lacking on this occasion, it is important to note that humiliation is something the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are no strangers to.

Despite criticism, they continue to navigate their own path, both in the public eye and in their personal lives.
