Zara Tindall recently shared a heart-wrenching moment when her children asked why they couldn’t see their dad, Mike Tindall, who was away filming in Australia while competing on I’m A Celebrity.
In an interview with Women’s Weekly, Zara opened up about the emotional experience of being separated from her husband and how it affected their children.
Last year, Mike Tindall, a former rugby player, participated in the reality show I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!
Although he appeared on TV almost every night, he was not allowed to contact his family during his time on the show.
Zara and their three children, Mia, Lena, and Lucas, were unable to catch even a glimpse of him on their screens as he was sometimes edited out of certain scenes.
Zara explained that having the ability to communicate through FaceTime and phone calls has made it easier for couples to stay connected even when they are apart.
However, Mike’s inability to speak to their children or offer support to Zara during his time in Australia made a significant difference.
The children struggled to understand why they couldn’t see their father, especially when he was visible on television.
Zara expressed how difficult it was for them and how much they missed him.
Despite the challenges, Mike’s popularity on the show was evident, and he finished in fourth place.
His reunion with Zara upon leaving the jungle showcased his strong commitment to his family.
Zara surprised him by flying down to Australia and meeting him as he crossed the famous rope bridge.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Mike held her tightly, expressing how much he had missed her.
Australia holds a special place in Zara and Mike’s hearts as it was where they first met in 2003 during the Rugby World Cup.
They eventually tied the knot in Edinburgh in 2011 and went on to have three children together.
Although they have considered relocating to Australia due to their love for the country’s lifestyle and their friendship groups there, they acknowledge the distance from their families as a significant obstacle.
For now, the family will remain at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire, close to Zara’s mother, Princess Anne, and her second husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence.
Despite the challenges of being apart, Zara and Mike continue to prioritize their family and find ways to stay connected.
