In a surprising revelation, former BBC journalist Tom Bower has claimed that Kate Middleton prevented Meghan Markle from attending the upcoming coronation of Prince Charles.
Bower, a prominent royal biographer, stated that Kate, who has faced public criticism from her sister-in-law in recent years, made it clear that Meghan would not be welcome at the celebration under any circumstances.
Buckingham Palace confirmed today that Prince Harry will be attending the historical event in London on May 6, while Meghan and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, will remain in California.
During an interview on GB News, Bower suggested that Meghan was actually eager to accompany her husband to the UK, but Kate blocked her from doing so.
He said, “We must all be grateful that Kate, in the end, prevented Meghan from coming and said she wouldn’t have her there under any circumstances.
And if she, Meghan, did come, she’d have to sit at the back.”
Bower also emphasized the constitutional importance of Harry’s presence at the coronation, as he would be next in line for the throne after Charles.
Omid Scobie, the couple’s biographer, confirmed that Archie’s birthday played a role in the decision, and he expects Harry’s trip to the UK to be brief.
A royal source revealed, “The truth of the matter is the Duchess was never likely to attend the coronation.
The mood from California was that she felt increasingly put in an impossible position, and there’s a fair sense of relief that the situation is resolved after so much speculation and uncertainty.”
Another source acknowledged the mixed reactions within the palace, with some staffers relieved that the media circus would not be accompanying Meghan, while others sympathized with her difficult position as a mother.
Harry’s visit to the UK will be short-lived, as he plans to return to California quickly to join the celebrations for Archie’s birthday.
He will only be attending the coronation ceremony and will not participate in other festivities during the three-day bank holiday weekend.
This will be Harry’s first reunion with his family since the late Queen’s funeral in September and his first face-to-face encounter with his father and brother since the release of his explosive memoir, “Spare,” in January.
The strained relationship between the royal wives has been widely reported for years, with rumors of tension emerging after Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May 2018.
In their Netflix docuseries, “Harry-Meghan,” released in December, Meghan revealed that their initial meeting with William and Kate was not as warm as expected.
She expressed surprise at the formality that persisted even when the cameras were off.
Meghan also addressed the reports of a disagreement with Kate over flower girl dresses before the wedding, clarifying that it was Kate who made her cry, but later apologized and brought her flowers.
It is clear that the dynamics within the royal family continue to be complex and unpredictable.
While Meghan will not be present at the coronation, all eyes will be on Harry as he navigates this significant event and reunites with his relatives.
The absence of Meghan will undoubtedly fuel further speculation and analysis of the relationships within the royal household.
