In a surprising turn of events, Megan and Harry have purchased a nomination for the 2024 Reelscreen Awards.
This mockumentary, which has gained significant attention, is now in the running for the prestigious award.
While the Reelscreen Awards may not be widely known, sources suggest that Megan bought a spot on the nomination list to elevate her and Harry’s status in the industry.
However, this move comes with its fair share of risks, as it involves immersing themselves in scandal.
The Reelscreen Awards, according to their website, aim to recognize exceptional content from around the world in the non-fiction and unscripted entertainment genres.
The 14th annual ceremony is scheduled to take place in January 2024 during the 26th edition of Reelscreen’s Summit.
Winners will be honored in 22 genre-specific categories, along with grand prize awards for excellence in competition, lifestyle, reality, non-fiction, and short-form content.
Additionally, there are special awards for Best New Format and Dialogue Diversity, Inclusion, Accountability, Opportunity, and Growth.
Insiders reveal that Megan Markle paid $495 to secure a nomination for her Netflix docuseries in the non-fiction, history, and biography category.
However, she can only purchase one spot on the list, leaving her fate in the hands of the voters.
The 2024 Reelscreen Awards will be hosted by Scott Evans, an Emmy Award-nominated entertainment journalist and host of NBCUniversal’s Access Hollywood and Access Daily with Mario and Kit.
This raises the question: what happened to the Oscars, Golden Lions, Golden Globes, and Emmys?
Are they too expensive for the Duke and Duchess?
It seems they are settling for access to lower category prizes instead.
This move by Megan to buy a nomination may be seen as a joke by many, as industry professionals are well aware of which awards can be purchased and at what cost.
It could potentially damage her reputation and credibility among directors and others she is trying to impress.
Interestingly, Megan’s decision to purchase this nomination comes after being removed from the Ripple of Hope Awards 2024 by Kerry Kennedy.
The winners have already been announced, and companies such as Sharecare, Attain Enterprises, Elevance Health, and Archwell have been excluded.
Notably, the Ripple of Hope Awards have honored esteemed individuals in the past, including Stacey Abrams, Amanda Gorman, former President Barack Obama, Tim Cook, Colin Kaepernick, Dolores Huerta, Desmond Tutu, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, late Congressman John Lewis, Bono, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Robert F. Smith, George Clooney, former President Bill Clinton, and then Vice President Joe Biden.
However, Megan and Harry’s names were conspicuously absent from the list, despite their previous wins.
This exclusion was a result of the organizers facing backlash for selling the award to the Harkles, leading them to sever ties with the couple.
In fact, the Ripple of Hope Human Rights organization has gone as far as removing any trace of the Sussexes from their social media accounts.
Previously, there were at least two posts featuring Megan and Harry on the Ripple of Hope Human Rights Twitter account.
However, a search for their names now yields no results.
Similarly, on the organization’s Instagram account, a picture of the couple was included in a post about last year’s awards ceremony, but no names were mentioned.
It seems that Megan and Harry’s influence in the human rights arena has been significantly diminished, leaving many to question the authenticity of their philanthropic endeavors.
As the Reelscreen Awards draw closer, all eyes will be on Megan and Harry to see if their investment pays off.
