The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are expected to attend the King’s Coronation in May, but it seems their children will not be joining them.
The couple may need to find a babysitter for their two young ones if they decide to attend the ceremony, which will be held at Westminster Abbey and is considered a major event for the royal family.
Prince Archie and Princess Lillibet, who are still too young to sit through such a formal occasion, are likely to miss out on the coronation.
While there is no official rule prohibiting their attendance, it is customary for very young royal children to be kept away from such events.
This was evident when Prince Louise, the son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, was not present at Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018, as he had just been born.
Adding to the complexity of the situation, the day of the coronation happens to coincide with Archie’s fourth birthday.
If Harry and Meghan do attend the ceremony, they will likely set aside some time to celebrate with their son.
To ensure the children are well taken care of, Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragnold, who resides close to the family’s home in Montecito, California, may accompany them and provide assistance.
Known for her hands-on approach to grandparenting, Doria has been described as someone who dotes on Archie and Lillibet.
In case she needs a place to stay, Harry and Meghan have guest rooms available for her.
Additionally, the couple has their own nanny for Archie and Lillibet in the United States.
Soon after Archie’s birth, they also hired Loero Camulo, a pediatric nursing consultant, to assist with his care.
In a January interview, Ms. Camulo spoke warmly about her time working for the family, expressing that she was welcomed by Harry and found Meghan to be a beautiful woman.
While it remains unknown whether Archie and Lillibet have received invitations to the coronation, it is expected that their cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louise, will be in attendance.
There is also speculation that the future King George may have a role to play in the ceremony.
However, if Harry and Meghan do attend, they are unlikely to have any official part in the proceedings.
It is also not anticipated that they will appear on the Buckingham Palace Balcony alongside other members of the royal family on that day.
The question now arises: who will take care of Archie and Princess Lillibet if their parents do decide to attend the coronation?
While the details remain unclear, it is possible that Meghan’s mother, Doria, will travel with the family to provide assistance, as she has done in the past.
Additionally, the couple’s own nanny and pediatric nursing consultant are available to ensure the children are well looked after.
As we eagerly await further developments, it is interesting to ponder the implications of Archie and Lillibet potentially missing out on the King’s coronation.
